The early story
A trip in a mini bus can apparently do more than get you to your destination. It can also be the start of a whole new journey.
While traveling to the biannual Rally Monte Carl in Uppsala for our 18th appearance we started talking about taking the rally experience to a whole new level. A few people thought this it sounded interesting to go to India and drive a Rickshaw across the country for 14 days. A few people thought it sounded ridiculous, but this story is not about them. In the end, only Fredrik and Sebastian signed up for this. When it became apparent that Fredrik actually meant what he said, and had signed up a team, Sebastian called his sister and here we are.
But why?
Well, all three of us felt that we would like to try something adventurous, but also something that made a difference. Having the chance to combine our wish for a different type of vacation with the possibility to raise money for charity was exactly what we were looking for. The Adventurists makes all this happen with very nice initiatives all around the world.
But still, we realize that it might sound a little extreme to drive across virtually the whole of India in an auto rickshaw. Someone told us that this is like driving a moped the length of Sweden. Twice. That might all be true, but we believe that we can make this an experience of a lifetime while raising money for very worthy causes. If this turns out to be everything we hope for, count on seeing us making our way across South America, Mongolia and various parts of Africa in the near future.
